Dear friends of chamber and wind music

We invite your music schools, academies and conservatories to the 2nd international competition of chamber ensembles Mitteleuropa Kammermusikfest 2025, which is part of the international festival Mitteleuropa Musikfest 2025, which is being held for the second year on the largest Adriatic island of Krk in the tourist town of Omišalj, not far from the airport of the city of Rijeka.

The right to participate in the competition is reserved for ensembles (min. 2 - max. 15 members) with at least one performer in the composition with a wind instrument that can be attributed to brass music (e.g. groups of only strings, etc. are not allowed). The competition is divided into two parts: the first part is an online competition, and the second is the final part at the festival in which the 6 best-placed chamber ensembles perform. Thus defined chamber ensembles will be divided into two sub-categories for the competition:

  • AMATEUR (intended for all music schools of all levels)
  • PRO (intended for state music academies and conservatories).

In the final part of the competition, based on the combined ranking, the six chamber groups with the highest number of points will be placed without subcategory restrictions. Competitors are required to respect the maximum times established for individual categories; for those who do not respect these limits, a penalty of 5/100 will be applied for each minute exceeded.
For the online competition, during registration, participants must also attach a video with a maximum duration of 25 minutes, without cuts or post-production operations, in which they must play at least two compositions of different character/style. In addition, each competing group must attach a program of the piece played with the name of the group as well as a copy of the score (all in PDF format). Please do not forget to write in which category you are participating when sending your video. All participants in the competition are required to comply with the Festival Regulations. The six best placed chamber ensembles will advance to the finals. The results will be announced on March 28, 2025 on the Festival's social channels (Facebook and Instagram).

The finals will be held in Omišalj (Croatia) on April 26-27, 2025.). Failure to attend the finals will result in immediate disqualification from the festival program. Your final program is therefore not a competitive program, but rather your free performance at the festival with a maximum duration of 25 minutes. Songs that have already been submitted in the first phase of the online competition cannot be reproduced. The entry fee for the online competition for each member of the chamber group is 30 euros, and is given as an example. €90 if a trio, €120 if a quintet).

In the final part, the 6 best placed only pay the festival organizer for accommodation in the Uvala Scott hotel in Kraljevica, which is 6 km away from the Community Center in Omišlja, where the final part of the festival is held.

Accommodation is organized (for both international festivals) at the Uvala Scott Hotel, located near the bridge to the island of Krk and 6 km from the Community Center in Omišalj, and will be held from 25.04. (dinner) to 27.04.2025 (lunch). Also, the 6 first-place orchestras will be included with the participants of the aforementioned brass music festival in the 2025 festival brochure with photos of each chamber ensemble and the names of the pieces. The festival brochure will be distributed free of charge to all members of the chamber ensembles and their accompaniment.
