Split middleeuropean and Adriatic city of Music


Historically and geographically, the most valluable part of eastern Adriatic coast can be and the second largest city in Croatia with a population of 200,000 and about 1700 years of its existance, and therefore is rich with numerous archaeological, historical and cultural monuments, from which the most significant is the residence of the famous Roman emperor Diocletian, called Diocletian's palace (UNESCO).

As a mediterranean city, Split also possesses the unusual attractions and warmth and as a result many visitors gladly return to visit it again. Like some poets say, it is because of the unusual mixture of sea, wine, music and sun. In that environment, music is the constituent part of the everyday life and therefore there is no doubt why so many extraordinary musicians, singers and composers of the worldwide music scene come from Split and Dalmatia itself.

The festival of Wind musik is finished


In Split there was held from the 14.04.-17.04. the second international festival of wind music „MItteleuropa Blasmusikfest 2011“on which have participate about 700 participants. In the competition part competed 13 wind orchestras. All orchestras have showed during ihe festival on both, the obligatory competition part and the free part of the program, a high level of musical skill, which was surely a great challenge for the jury. The official jury consisted of four judges: the jury chairman Manuel Epli from Germany, Mr. Josip Grgasović from Ljubljana, Mr. Marin Zokić from Zagreb and Mr. Đorđe Radovniković from Split. After the final meeting of judges they have declared the best orchestras of the three categories:

A Kategory

1. Goriški pihalni orkestar - Nova Gorica – Slovenia, 95 points
Award:  Golden medal  and Yamaha YCL-J403 Clarinet with suitcase

2. Pihalni orkestar obćine Duplek – Slovenija 93 points
Award: Silver medal and Istanbul Samatya 16“+10“ Drum Cymbals

3. Pihalni orkestar Izola – Slovenia 90 points
Award: Bronze medal and Yamaha MLCLL Lira for Clarinet

B Kategory

Pihalni orkestar Duka - Vipava - Vrhpolje – Slovenia 92 points
nagrada: Zlatna plaketa i Yamaha YFL-211 flauta sa koferom

C Kategory

1. Pihalni orkestar Laško - Laško - 98 points
Award: Golden medal and Yamaha YFL-211 Flute with suitcase

2. Musikschulle Ober - Grafendorf - 90 points
Award: Silver medal and Istanbul Samatya 14“ Drum Cymbals

3. Gradska glazba Zadar - 82 points
Award: Bronze medal and Yamaha MLCLL Lira for Clarinet

The awards in the name of the organizer , organization for cultural cooperation for Central Europe “SEA – PZS“,for the best are given by prof. Damir Milić, chairman of the orgenization, and in the name of music sponzor the company Euro-Unit with its partners Yamaha and Istanbul Mehetom by Mr.Ivan Senčar.

Although the festival is held until next year 2012,the quality of the orchestras that performed and their number itself, surely confirmed its good perspective. The next year 2012 the festival will be held in early May (first weekend in May) before the Day of Split (07.05.). This is a great challenge for the orchestras because they can participate in the big Split festival !!!
