Split middleeuropean and Adriatic city of Music

Historically and geographically, the most valluable part of eastern Adriatic coast can be and the second largest city in Croatia with a population of 200,000 and about 1700 years of its existance, and therefore is rich with numerous archaeological, historical and cultural monuments, from which the most significant is the residence of the famous Roman emperor Diocletian, called Diocletian's palace (UNESCO).

As a mediterranean city, Split also possesses the unusual attractions and warmth and as a result many visitors gladly return to visit it again. Like some poets say, it is because of the unusual mixture of sea, wine, music and sun. In that environment, music is the constituent part of the everyday life and therefore there is no doubt why so many extraordinary musicians, singers and composers of the worldwide music scene come from Split and Dalmatia itself.

Invitation for International wind music festival 2012 - Split, Croatia

Dear wind music orchestras,

We invite you to the city of Split on the international festival of amateur festival of wind music Mitteleuropa Blasmusikfest 2012 ". Participants of the festival, wind music orchestras from the Croatian and other European countries will be located at Hotel Medena *** 4km from Trogir and 7 km from Split airport. Festival will take place in Split which will organize Central European action - movement for Central Europe.Sponsor of this festival is „Euro-Unit Yamaha – Croatia.

The aim of the Festival is the popularization of wind brass music and also to develop mutual cooperation between the orchestras and raise the quality of amateur work in the Central Europe as a whole. The orchestras from other parts of Europe and the world are, on these same grounds, encouraged to participate. The festival is of competitive nature and the orchestras will compete in four different categories (A, B, C and D) which differ in the level of difficulty.

Program of the festival: Coming and allocationing in hotel Medena*** - 04/26/ 2012 (Thursday) until dinner Festival starts in Friday with procession of all participants at 8:30 from Split riva. Festival opens on the square Prokurative at 9:00 h.

The festival consists of two parts; 3.1.The contest, 3.2. Voluntary  part

3.1. The Contest program
3.1. a) Obligatory contest part in which all of the orchestras of the category A, B and C will perform at least three compositions, that do not last more than 30 minutes, in front of a jury. Those orchestras that choose to be in better categories, quality wise, such as category A (hard) B and C (middle), will perform three different compositions:

a.) Introductory composition
b.) Obligatory composition
c.) Composition of choice

4. Obligatory composition

The order of performance of the obligatory composition and the composition of choice is not set, but has to be duly announced to the jury prior to their performance. The introductory composition will not be graded. This composition has to be either a choral or a march of a high artistic value. The choice of the obligatory composition will determine the category to which the orchestra will be assigned to. The composition of choice has to be of the same or of the similar level as the obligatory composition. The obligatory composition will have a high level of musical and artistic content. Instrumental or vocal soloist compositions are not going to be allowed.

3.1 b.)The orchestras that choose to be in the category D will perform these three compositions:

a) Orchestras are playing one composition that is written by their country author
b) Orchestras are playing march composition that is written by middle Europe author, our recommendation is author from classic Austrian-Czech repertory
c) Orchestras are playing one composition that is modern music like pop, jazz and other

3.2. The Voluntary  part of the festival orchestra performing on the streets and other places of the city of Split. Free performance is not required for the orchestras. Concerts time orchestras can take no more than an hour.

Closing ceremony of the festival and awarding prizes will be at 21:00 on the Prokurative at Saturday and will be organized in a joint party for all participants of the festival                        Entry fee to the festival for category A ,B, C amd D 180. Euros per orchestra. All participants will get the festival brochure as a souvenir so that they could remember this important event that will promote wind music.

Accommodation is organized in Hotel Medena*** which is tree kilometers away from city Trogir and seven kilometers away from the airport Split. Festival package on full board basis and includes (three nights and three meals a day from 26th 04th 2012th (dinner) to 29.04.2012. (Breakfast). In Hotel Medena***organized sleep and breakfast and Congress Hall  Poljud  in Split,  lunch and dinner (27th and 28th 04th Friday - Saturday) for all participants. Conductor or manager of the orchestra has free accommodation and food at our festival. Also it is possible to come with escort, sooner or later go to the festival, hotel package price is another:
